#PopeinDC: The Pope Makes a Visit

At approximately 6 a.m. on the brisk morning of Wednesday, Sept. 23, a group of Paul VI students set out to experience what would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The group of twenty six students and four teachers had the chance to attend the welcoming ceremony for Pope Francis’s meeting with President Obama at the White House.

PVI Students Go Global

The Paul VI French Department made the seven-hour journey to France this Easter break. The group of French students had the chance to see some of France’s greatest landscapes, including the Eiffel Tower. More international trips are planned for Summer 2015 and the 2015-2016 academic year.

Sophomores Create Coin Hockey League

Starting with just the idea of a simple game, a group of Paul VI sophomore boys formed the Coin Hockey League. “At first there was never supposed to even be a league,” says Dillon Costello ‘17. “The game was just used as a tool for some of us to pass time after school. So when AJ Mejia sent me a text saying we were going to start a coin hockey league, I said, ‘Well, what are we waiting for?’ Much to our surprise it took off faster than we ever thought it would.”

LaDan Nemati Earns Solo Ice Dancing Bronze

LaDan Nemati ‘17 competed in the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating National Solo Dancing championships in Colorado Springs, CO. Sept. 17–20, coming away with the bronze medal. To get to nationals, more than 100 skaters across the U.S. competed at various local competitions during this past season. Of these, some 20 elite skaters (seven from the West Coast, seven from the Midwest, and seven from the Eastern region) qualified to compete. LaDan was in second place placed second out of the top six from the Eastern region entering the competition in Colorado.
